Salon Express is As Seen On TV’s solution to having salon quality nails in the comfort of your own home. But does it work as easily as it presents? Is this a product you should rush out and get, or should you avoid this like the plague?
To be completely honest, both Sarah and I thought this was going to be a bomb. Usually, I try to give a produce the benefit of the doubt, but I looked at this and had some SERIOUS questions. But, we both gave it 100% of a chance and checked it out. That is to say that SARAH gave it a chance. I don’t paint my nails.
Salon Express comes with 5 discs with a variety of patterns etched into them. It also has a disc holder for convenience. After you have selected your pattern and placed it in the holder, you use your own nail polish to cover the patter you’d like, then use the scraper to pull off the excess nail polish off the disc. Finally you use a “depressor” (not sure what the actual name for it is) and depress it on the pattern with nail polish, then put it on your nail. Ideally, the pattern shows clearly on your nails.
Sarah tried a turtle, then some butterflies, then finally a palm tree. Each time, the pattern came out perfect! We both laughed as we were pleasantly surprised that it REALLY worked! She didn’t do anything magical. In fact, in the video she used instant dry nail polish. Just to test it out, we decided to try “regular” nail polish and see how it worked. We tried three different patterns and they all turned out well. To show the difference, she used red nail polish to differentiate “regular” polish.
Overall, we found the product really worked well. However, Salon Express is not a product Sarah would normally purchase. We both think this would be a PERFECT gift for girls that are in that 10-14 year old range. I can see my nieces getting this and having a “spa night” with lots of giggles. Some of the patterns are really cutesy. However, if you want to add a little flair to your nails, this is the product for you!
