MyZone Headphones are an As Seen On TV product with the idea that some people want to watch a movie without interrupting or being interrupted by others. Conceptually, after plugging it into the receiver, the wireless headphones allow for that solitude of TV watching.
My buddy Nic loves watching sports events. His wife Hilary is fantastic and tolerates it, but you can tell she’d rather not watch so much sports and would rather read. Having Nic test the MyZone Headphones seemed like the perfect solution for them!
First and foremost, MyZone Headphones were super easy to get out of the plastic. That may seem like a stupid comment to even write about, but this is significant. The perforated plastic was a snap to pull out. I can’t tell you how many times I have had to track down a scissors to destroy packaging to pull out a device. Bonus props for MyZone Headphones and easy packaging.
Nic may not have his doctorate or anything, but he definitely knows how to set up audio/visual equipment. When he told me that he couldn’t make this As Seen On TV product work, I didn’t really have to ask him if he set it up correctly. Regardless, I asked him if he set it up correctly. He assured me that he did and even showed me how easy it was. Although set up was a snap, and we turned on the receiver and headphones, we just could not “find” the TV station. It was as though it didn’t exist. Actually, to be clear, it was exactly because the headphones simply did not work. We tried several variations to try and make the things work, but it was only until we blasted the sound on the TV that we could hear INTO the headphones because of the bleed through… which completely defeats the purpose of the product in the first place.
Overall, the concept of MyZone Headphones was cool. To be able to focus in on a show you want to watch is great for a bunch of reasons. End of the day, it simply didn’t work. Bonus points for great packaging and concept, but that doesn’t exactly inspire you to spend money on it. Like we promise, we are doing REAL reviews on real products.
MyZone did not perform well enough to be carried by Television Frenzies.
